walking in obedience

God, there are days I feel like I’m walking with You hand in hand. Every word You whisper, I can hear it. Every corner we get close to, I hear Your signal to turn. We stride up the mountains and glide down the hills still hand in hand. Then we come to a fork in the road, I immediately begin to wonder which way are we going. You whisper, just follow Me! Before, I’ve seen the upcoming corners, mountains, and hills, and I already had an idea of where we were going. But now that there is a true decision to make, You haven’t made it clear on where to go and I’m struggling to find the best route. Again, You said follow Me. I begin to look around me, thinking I’ll find something that will give me a clue, then all of a sudden, my hand starts to slip out of Yours. I stopped and again You repeat just follow Me, but I take a look backwards and think to myself I don’t know where You’re taking me. Before, You were telling me everything, but now You’re only saying follow Me. Where are we going Lord?

Often times we claim to truly trust God, but the very moment He asks us to trust Him we continue to ask, “but why?”

Why do I have to let that go?

Why are we going this way?

Why do I have to give?

Why can’t You tell me the next step?

Why didn’t I get that promotion?

Why didn’t I get approved?

Why God, why?

Then, He gently says, Good Heaven’s! I’m trying to show you, but you don’t trust Me!

Whew friends, let me tell you from my experience, we have to CHOOSE to trust God DAILY! Every minute of the day! Even when we don’t understand the why. Proverbs 3:5 says it so plain and CLEAR… “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Just as simple as that! I know, I know, it really sounds so simple! BUT.. we may THINK we’re trusting God with everything until the moment comes where we realize, do I really trust God?

We’re good as long as God is giving us instructions on where to go, how long it will take, what’s the next move…but that very moment God gets quiet and simply says “come, follow Me” we immediately get worried. We immediately lose all faith. We immediately ask why, God? Immediately we want control, and God is saying, He thought WE SAID that we trust Him!

How selfish of us!

It all boils down to FEAR & us thinking God is like human, but He is God! God is NOT like human, that He should lie! There is no one else like Him! We’ve been hurt so much by humans that we think God will also hurt us, when in actuality God is the one who heals us. He’s constantly saying to us “trust Me. Don’t fear. I’m with you always.” But we’re so in the need to be in control.

Take it from my experience friends, when we TRULY start to walk by faith and not by site, all things and I do mean ALL THINGS will work together for the good of those who love the Lord. I know, again, it SOUNDS simple but one thing I’ve learned the more I try to control the outcome the more issues I have. So, take it from me friends, let it go. Give it to God. Follow Him!

Believe Even-when Life Looks Eerie

Scripture

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” (Matthew 4:19)

God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? (Numbers 23:19)

Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. (Isaiah 46:9)

”For we live by faith, not by sight.“ (2 Corinthians 5:7)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
